Thanksgiving Is a Lifestyle of Peace

This week our family has a very special invitation. For the third year in a row, we will be joining other families to celebrate Thanksgiving Day. This is one of the main American holidays, celebrated on the last Thursday of November. On this occasion, families come together to have a special dinner and give thanks to God. More than a holiday or a celebration, true thanksgiving is a lifestyle.

And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.

Apostle Paul, Colossians 3:15

Thanksgiving is the way to peace with God, who is the most precious resource in our lives. Only when you enjoy peace with God, you live in full satisfaction and joy. And the way to find that peace, and stay in it, is by intentionally practicing gratitude.

Every morning, when Rapha and I wake up, our first words are affirmations from the Word of God declaring his goodness, faithfulness, and love. We often read a Bible verse, or a psalm, and move on with a period of praise.

This is the best way to enter the doors of our day, giving thanks to God with a sincere heart. Next, we will also have opportunities to show gratitude to our family members, co-workers, neighbors, and others around us. Gratitude opens doors and allows us to progress successfully to the best that God has prepared for us.

That is why I invite you to experience a new way of life, prioritizing recognizing the goodness of God, including through other people who add to your life. Open your mouth with sincerity and intentionality to bless the Lord and thank everyone around you. Thus, God’s peace will be your guide to a future full of blessings for you and your entire family.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Apostle Paul, Philippians 4:6-7

Prayer: God, thank you so much for your peace. I recognize your great love for me and choose to live all your plans for my life. That is why I give my life into your hands, and I receive with faith and gratitude everything You have prepared for me in Christ Jesus. Amen.
