In this third post of the “Who God Is” series we will see that one of God’s own characteristics is faithfulness and how he values covenants. When everything changes, his word stays firm. The Kingdom of God is eternal, and his righteousness endures from generation to generation.

He Remains Faithful
Unlike an easily distracted child who changes his focus several times in a matter of minutes, God does not change. When he decides, he upholds his word. He values commitment, focus and consistency.
The Bible says God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He does not vary from time to time. And understanding this reality will influence the way we approach him, affecting our prayers and the confidence we place in his words.
Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change.
Letter of the Apostle James 1:17
Like a Crude Rock
God is faithful, good and severe at the same time. If he is glad, he remains faithful. When he becomes angry, he remains faithful. The ability to remain faithful and just regardless of the circumstances is unique to God and those to whom he gives.
Imagine a huge rock on the ground. If this rock is smooth and polished it will not be difficult to move it. But the rougher and grosser this rock is, the more unshakable it will be upon its base.
Such is the rigor of God. The more we understand his severity, the more we see his faithfulness and immutability. This is one of the most beautiful expressions of God’s love. He wears no makeup or disguise. He is pure and true.
Every healthy relationship requires this kind of authenticity and reciprocity. God is faithful and wants to relate to us. It is up to us to respond by faith and meet him with an available heart.
The Danger of Idolatry
If he is jealous, he soon expresses it and demands exclusivity. Then we realize the danger of idolatry. God disgusts any form of icon veneration because he knows they are false. They are baits used by evil spirits to attract our attention, which must be devoted exclusively to God. He is jealous of us because he loves us. And his love is the only one who can make us fully satisfied.
Those who make them become like them;
Psalms 115:8
so do all who trust in them.
God of Covenants
The Bible shows us that God values covenants. He promised Noah that he would never send another flood. And set the rainbow as a sign of that covenant. Even today when we see the sign in the clouds we can remember that covenant that blessed not only Noah but all future generations, including us. This is an everlasting covenant that required nothing from Noah except faith.
When the bow is in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the earth.
Genesis 9:16
As much as humanity messes up nature, causing great ecological and climatic disasters, God lives and reigns faithfully. His word is firmly established and there will never be anything close to a flood. He is faithful to his covenant.
Then God made a covenant with Abraham promising him a family through which all the families of the earth would be blessed. And he has fulfilled and keeps his promise. From Abraham, Isaac, and Israel came the people of Israel from which our Savior Jesus was born. Abraham simply trusted God.
What should I do
Every covenant of God is eternal. It also brings provision, security and better quality of life for those who accept it. No one is required to have a covenant with God. He never forced a person to make an alliance with him. And many people today, as has happened throughout history, simply reject an alliance with God.
How can we enter into covenant with God? As he is faithful and I desire to have an everlasting covenant with him, what should I do?
Never doubt
Stop doubting and believe! Never doubt. Believe only. This is what the Bible says! There is a saying that those who never doubted never really believed, that the crisis process is necessary to develop faith. Lie. This is demonic and dangerous. Doubt and faith cannot occupy the same space.
Jesus’ only command in the face of doubt and difficulty is: Believe! Faith is not complex, but very simple. Pay attention that God has given a portion of faith to each person. And in a very fair way you will be accountable to God for this faith He has entrusted to you.
For I say, through the grace given to me, to everyone who is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think soberly, as God has dealt to each one a measure of faith.
Apostle Paul, Letter to the Romans 12:3
Do not believe any complex explanation of faith. Just exercise the portion of faith that is already within you. And as you hear the voice of God, because he always speaks to your spirit, your faith grows naturally.
Respond by Faith
This faith and God’s faithfulness have the same root. I am telling you that as God reveals Himself to you personally, you simply answer Him. The faithful God plants faith in your heart. And he looks forward to seeing your response saying yes to him.
Suddenly you will be in eternal alliance with him. Even if you fail, he will remain faithful. There will be no other option for you but to be allied with the God of love, eternally enjoying his goodness and faithfulness.
For your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom.
Psalms 145:13
You rule throughout all generations.
The Lord always keeps his promises;
he is gracious in all he does.
Conclusion
God is faithful and remains faithful. He never changes. And everything he does lasts forever. Considering that, decide right now to make an alliance with him.
Simply respond yes to him by faith. God’s faithfulness and your faith combine perfectly and together will bring great results.
Prayer: God, I thank you for You are good and your faithful love endures forever. Therefore, I decide to answer yes and live in covenant with You forever and ever in the name of Jesus. Amen.
