Who God Is {Part 1} – God is Eternal

Since we were born we have infinite time ahead of us. Even after your body dies, your spirit will live forever. Still priorities are important if you want to live well and avoid problems. And the main one is what you believe about the Eternal God.

With that in mind, we started today a series of posts about who God is. Consider reading this post leaving aside the religious and collective aspect, but focusing on your own spirituality.

Also leave your comment below, expressing your own understanding and experiences with God so far. I promise to review this post soon, answering your questions and appreciating your comment.

Eternal

A few days ago I saw a colleague cry with joy as his family received as a gift an annual passport to an amusement park plus $ 500. I rejoiced with him to know that he was encouraged after a hard time. But at the same time, those tears led me to reflect on what my perception of the person of God and his blessings on my life have been.

For Best, For Worst

Just as a person can cry for a moment of great joy, so can a person cry for bad news. Crying is beautiful, and it expresses the authenticity and depth of one’s soul. More than miracles and great wonders, weeping is one of the greatest marks of God’s true move according to statistics of all time, says Dr. Randy Clark.

Why would it be worth rejoicing before God? And what would be the reason for being sad before him?

Before the mountains were brought forth,
or ever you had formed the earth and the world,
from everlasting to everlasting you are God.

Moses, Psalms 90:2

New Era

The Bible says God is eternal. Without this revelation, it would be impossible for man to think seriously about the possible existence of a period before and after what we live. But God presented Himself as the Creator who, before we existed, established a start for a new era of which we are today part.

Within our limited reality, God has no beginning or end. We need to use these words as delimitation to express what he is not. He is not restricted to time or space.

He is eternally God, the sole creator and sustainer of all things visible and invisible. The Jews call him The Name. And for over 2 millennia, the entire Christian church around the world believes that he is eternal, immortal, invisible and real.

To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Apostle Paul, 1Timothy 1:17

The Eternal God is Supreme and Incomparable

He lives forever and has given us life. Man has always had difficulty accepting this reality, but has never failed to recognize his own need for a god to whom he reports. Therefore, idols of clay, stone and other materials were produced. They have eyes but do not see, have ears but do not hear, have mouth but do not speak. And those who make or respect them become like them.

Only the Eternal God can supply our need for a higher being to worship and to depend upon. He is supreme and incomparable. The way our relationship with him can happen is without leveling the appreciation we give to him with that we give to other people or substances.

Similarly, self knowledge, career, finance, marriage and children or any other matter are not a priority – or idols – in our lives. What we accept about God will positively or negatively influence our entire journey here on earth and also in eternity.

He remains mysterious in his essence, but always revealing himself to each person in love. His transcendence is an invitation to satisfy our curiosity.

He has made everything beautiful in its time. Also, he has put eternity into man’s heart, yet so that he cannot find out what God has done from the beginning to the end.

Solomon, Ecclesiastes 3:11

The Eternal God is Unsearchable

Mike Massa, my mentor and teacher here at CFNI, draws our attention to the fact that God is unsearchable, but his Holy Spirit searches him to the deepest details and reveals him to us. Think about it!

When the Bible says that no eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love Him, it does not refer to heaven or any surprise – raise your expectations! For it also says that he revealed it to us through his Holy Spirit. Our greatest discovery is and always will be God Himself.

The good news is that through Jesus we will have all eternity to discover more and more of the Everlasting God. And the more we observe him, the more we will give him thanks, honor and glory!

Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
his understanding is unsearchable.

The Prophet Isaiah 40:28

The Eternal God Dwells In Unapproachable Light

I asked a wise man who has been working for security for many years what he has learned in this service. His answer was that it does not matter what kind of weapon you carry but how you live. And he explained to me that even though God has no weapon, He lives in unapproachable light. After a moment I realized that regardless of the enemy’s strategy, he will never come close to hitting God.

… who alone has immortality, who dwells in unapproachable light, whom no one has ever seen or can see. To him be honor and eternal dominion. Amen.

Apostle Paul, 1Timothy 6:16

Conclusion

Priorities are important if you want to live well and avoid problems. And the main one that will influence your whole life here and in eternity is what you believe about God.

He is eternal. Ever and ever, he is. His greatness and superiority are just some aspects of his eternity. His character and love plan will be the subject of the next posts in this series. See you there!

Prayer: God, I praise you because I recognize that You alone are eternal, the Father, Jesus the son, and the Holy Spirit. I ask that You help me to discover the path of life so I will live by faith, in the name of Jesus. Amen.
